LV Veterans for Peace Demonstrate in Allentown

Approximately 20 members of Lehigh Valley Veterans for Peace, Chapter 152, protested the war in Iraq in support of the troops at the Veteran's Day Parade in Allentown. Former Air Force officers Marilyn Hazelton, of Salisbury Township, and Chapter Coordinator Louise Legun, of Allentown, hold posters and flags during the protest (above).

The photos above and below are LV veterans at the November 12 Veteran's Day Parade in Allentown. The Iraq War has generated its own generation of vets, after over four years of war and occupation. Do you remember the "Marlboro Marine" of Fallujah? Louise Legun forwarded this link, which shows the reality of life after war, for a veteran of Fallujah and Iraq, James Blake Miller. He was the subject of Luis Sinco's photo. Here is the followup to James' Iraq experience, the reality of war.

The Allentown presence by Vets for Peace at Veterans Day remembrances, as shown above, was duplicated In Meadsville, Pennsylvania, where the Veteran's Day Parade, Nov 11th, was apparently made up of almost only Vets for Peace and their friends -- some 200 in all. Boston Vets for Peace had its own parade, for a You Tube video of their march and rally, click here. They had to march unofficially in Boston, because the organizers of the official city parade would not allow them in the parade. -Joe DeRaymond, photos from LV Vets for Peace
